Teachers Angry as Punjab Government Plans to Hand Over 2000 Schools to NGOs

Punjab government has reportedly decided to hand over two thousand government schools to local non-government organizations (NGOs).

As per media reports, the procedural work for the handover has already been started.

Meanwhile, multiple NGOs have approached the provincial government requesting no-objection certificates (NOCs) for taking charge of these schools.

The teachers’ association in Punjab, on the other hand, has rejected the decision calling it a breach of their contracts. They have threatened to launch massive protests across the province against the development.
