PM Khan Ordered Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Sacking as Captain: Reports

In a surprising revelation, some media elements have suggested that Prime Minister Imran Khan is the man behind Sarfaraz Ahmed’s sacking as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team.

According to the reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had Sarfaraz Ahmed in its plans till the T20I World Cup in 2020, however, the decision to remove him was made following direct orders from Imran Khan.

Things are slightly heating up between the government and the cricket board as the PCB has reportedly put the blame on Imran Khan for denying NOCs to players for the T10 league. Media outlets are reporting that Imran Khan was behind this decision as well, owing to the fact that Indian owners are involved in the league.

On the other hand, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is also likely to investigate the matter of political interference in the PCB. This might land the cricket board in trouble as earlier the Zimbabwe Cricket Board was banned due to political interference.

Experts have negated such reports considering how the PCB had selected the team management and blamed Sarfaraz over the T20I series loss against Sri Lanka. Most senior players are of the opinion that PM Imran neither has the time nor does he take incomplete steps such as these. Had the former captain taken a decision he would have chosen the captain himself instead of relying on multiple captains for different formats.
