We Dropped and Scratched Vivo S1, Here’s What Happened

Vivo S1 brings in a combination of powerful specifications and an affordable price tag. It features a 6.38-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, a Mediatek Helio P65 SoC, and a large 4,500 mAh battery built to last for days.

All things considered, is the phone strong enough to survive wear and tear? We put the Vivo S1 to the test in our latest video, take a look:

Scratch Test

First came the scratch test where the phone’s front and back were vigorously scratched with a coin. The result was a scratch-free phone with both the front and back completely unharmed. We then tried to scrape the phone with a key and got the same results.

Using the screwdriver, however, scratched up the back a bit but left the display completely unscathed. This leads us to believe that the back of the device uses an older version of Gorilla Glass which wasn’t strong enough to survive scratches with a screwdriver.

Water Test

The water test involved dropping the phone into a bucket of water from different heights to test the quality of waterproofing on the device.

It was dropped into the bucket from pocket height, chest height, and head height and none of the drops, which normally would kill a phone, managed to harm the Vivo S1.

Drop Test

The drop test followed the same rules as the water test, which involved the phone being dropped from different heights without a water bucket. It was dropped from pocket height, chest height, and head height once again and none of the drops damaged the phone.

In conclusion, Vivo S1 is a solid phone which is built to survive. Unless you carry a screwdriver around or work with one often, you won’t have to worry about damaging the phone.
