Wasim Akram Criticizes Pakistan Selection During 2nd Test Match Against Australia

It hasn’t been Pakistan’s day. They have been extremely poor in the field, the bowling has been average and it has been a carnage overall, said Wasim Akram while settling into the commentary box in the last session of the 2nd Test match.

Reflecting on the play on day one, Wasim Akram said that Pakistan is facing issues due to their selection.

The legendary fast bowler called out Pakistan’s selection committee and said:

I am alright with the introduction of one young player but to put them all together in a tour to Australia, I don’t know what the selection committee is thinking.

He further went on to claim that the only young fast bowler he would have played against Australia was Mohammad Hasnain.

He [Husnain] played for Pakistan in the T20Is and he should have been in the Test squad. He is tall and he balls at a very good pace. At 19, he has experience in international cricket. Why did the selection committee not include him and instead took two players who have no experience?

Speaking about the bowling performance as a whole, Akram said Australia have smashed Pakistan’s best bowler [Yasir Shah] all around the park and they quick bowlers have been generally poor.

Until the 30th over during the first day of the 2nd Test match, Pakistani pacers had only bowled four deliveries which would have gone on to hit the stumps – all four were delivered by Shaheen Afridi, none from Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Musa.
