Xiaomi Launches a Scratchproof Smartwatch With 2 Cameras for Children

Tech and Telecom

Xiaomi has launched yet another wearable device, but this time it is focused on Children. The smartwatch is dubbed as the Mitu Children Learning Watch 4Pro and is specifically focused on keeping the parents aware of their child’s whereabouts. Moreover, to make the whole experience fun, the Company has also added a few learning apps for the children.

Design and Display

The watch is built around a 1.78-inch screen that features 326 PPI pixel density and is protected by a layer of 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 3 with 9H hardness and diamond-like coating. This makes it scratch resistant and prevents breakages in case the child drops it.

Initially, it comes with a silicone strap, however, like other Xiaomi watches, you can separately purchase different colored straps for the watch face.

As for the innards, the watch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 SoC topped with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. It runs on Android 8.1, which may sound disappointing, but on a watch, the latest version of Android may not be necessary. However, it is heavily customized to make it easy to use for children.

The highlight of the Mitu Children Learning Watch 4Pro is its dual cameras. It features a 5 MP camera on the front and an 8 MP camera on the side. The best part is, both these sensors can be simultaneously activated, hence, the parents can look at their child and his/her whereabouts at the same time. The 5 MP sensor has 82 degrees FOV while the 8 MP sensor has 85 degrees FOV with T-LENS ultra-fast focus.

On top of featuring dual cameras, the watch comes with a dual-frequency GPS with 24-hour tracking, 4G LTE and NFC. Apart from this, the smartwatch is equipped with ten-fold Al positioning and L1 + L5 dual-frequency GPS coordinated positioning system that makes the signal more stable and stronger. The Company has also added support for indoor positioning of 4000+ large shopping malls, high-speed rail stations, and airports in China.

AI learning

Last but not least is the AI learning feature embedded in the Mitu Children Learning Watch 4Pro. The watch supports XiaoAI assistant that can be used to activate a variety of learning apps including language learning applications as well as applications related to math, social, fun, logical thinking and other content.

Pricing and availability

The watch is currently available for sale in China and will set consumers back by $187.
