Amidst the global pandemic and the lockdown, people around the world have no option but to turn to the internet for entertainment. Where this has put a massive strain on several internet services around the world, it has also translated to huge revenue for these services, especially for game developers.

As per a recent report by sensor tower, some games have even attracted five times more revenue than what they collected in the same period last year.

AFK Arena

Arena of Valor

Top of the list is Tencent’s PUBG Mobile (and Peace Elite, i.e., China Specific Version) that attracted more than the US $191 million revenue globally. This is five times more than that of the same period last year. 71% of the revenue came from the Chinese market; in contrast, the US market accounts for just 7.3%.

Following PUBG Mobile is Tencent’s Honor of Kings (and King of Glory, i.e., China Specific Version), ranking second with $121 million in revenue. The Chinese version accounts for a massive 92.6% of revenue, while the Thai version dubbed Arena of Valor contributes to 3.7% of the revenue.

Mixi’s Monster Strike, AFK Arena, DBZ Dokkan Battle, and Candy Crush Saga stand at the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth positions, respectively. The rest of the list is occupied by Rise of Kingdoms, Gardenscapes, and Pokemon Go.
