Sindh High Court Stops Private Schools from Expelling Students

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has barred private education institutes from expelling students who fail to clear their fees owing to the coronavirus lockdown.

The court, after hearing initial arguments of the Sindh Additional Advocate General Barrister Salman Talibuddin, filing on behalf of the Sindh government, accepted the petition for a formal hearing and issued this directive.

The Sindh High Court also expressed concerns over the massive growth in the number of private institutions in Sindh and has taken several actions in this regard.

Talibuddin informed the media about the development outside the court.

No coercive action shall be taken against any of the students in case of non-payment of full tuition fees.

According to authorities, the decision will come into effect at once, and in case of noncompliance, strict action will be taken against institutes in violation.

This decision will help people around the province as due to zero economic activities, people can’t afford to pay the high fees of these institutions.

Previously in on April 30, the court had dismissed the petition filed by private school owners against Sindh government’s directives to grant 20% fee concession to the students staying at home due to lockdown. Private institutes were forced to grant a 20% fee concession to all students.
