Imad Wasim Hints at How Pakistan Can Regain Top Spot in T20 Rankings

Pakistan all-rounder, Imad Wasim, has expressed his desire to see the Men in Green retaining the top spot in ICC T20I rankings.

Pakistan slipped to fourth in the latest rankings with 260 rating points as Australia dethroned Babar XI as the top-ranked team in the shortest format. If Pakistan wins against England by a margin of 3-0, the Green Shirts can climb to the second position with 267 points.

The Green Shirts stayed at the top of the T20I rankings for over 2 years, most of which was under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy. After his sacking, the team performance was lacking as Pakistan managed to win only a couple of matches in 2019.

The star all-rounder has set his eyes on regaining the top ranking by winning the 3-match T20I series against England in August-September.

We want to regain our top position in T20Is. I want to see Pakistan among top three ranked sides in all formats. My personal goal is to perform well and improve my ranking as bowler and as all-rounder. But winning the series is more important because England is one of the world’s best sides.

This would be the first series for Pakistan after the coronavirus pandemic and every player will be keen to return to the cricket fields.

I am very eager to be back on cricket field. It has been a long time, not only for us but for all sportspersons. They all want to play their sport and want to get back on the field.

Talking about the prospect of playing without crowds, Imad said that the tour will provide an opportunity for cricketers to return to their routine, adding that everyone wants to play cricket. As per the reports, the three T20Is are scheduled for August 28th, 30th, and September 1st.
