UET Asks Students to Come to Campus Instead of Reopening Online Admissions

Despite a steep rise in the coronavirus cases in Pakistan, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, has asked all candidates who missed the online registration deadline for admissions to visit its campus.

The varsity’s entrance test/ECAT 2020, scheduled to be held on June 13 and 14, 2020, has been postponed on the call of Punjab government due to the pandemic. However, the process of registration has continued.

The last date for registration of UET’s entrance test was June 3, but many students were unable to apply due to various reasons. Therefore, the university is asking students to come to the campus for registration.

A press release from the UET administration said:

This facility (of registration) is available only in the UET Lahore campus and is for a limited time period which will be discontinued after the announcement of the final date of entrance test.

The directive has created trouble for students from across the province. A student from Lodhran, who bought the token for the ECAT 2020 on June 02, and submitted his application the same day, was unable to get his admit card online.

Now, when I have approached the university via email, they are asking me to visit Lahore for this purpose.

Usman said his parents were concerned due to increasing cases of the virus, especially in Lahore. He said the varsity must reconsider this decision as it will force many students to travel hundreds of miles to register for the entrance test.
