The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (commonly referred as GIKI), is a private research university located in Topi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. The university was established in 1993 by former President of Pakistan, Ghulam Ishaq Khan. It is one of the top institutes in the country as ranked by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

Over the years, the institute has produced bright, innovative graduates employed at some of the most respectable firms all over the world. the institute has consistently attracted the country’s most influential scientists such as Abdul Qadeer Khan, Asghar Qadir, and Shaukat Hameed Khan, who played a role in elevating the institute as one of world’s finest science and engineering college. It is autonomous and independently chartered and is funded by the private sector.

GIKI offers programs and courses in various disciples such as Engineering, Management Sciences and Humanities.

All You Need to Know About GIKI Admissions:

As mentioned before, GIKI offers a wide array of higher education programs. Each program has its own set of eligibility criteria for admission. Following are some of the important details that you must bear in mind, with respect to the different programs:

Undergraduate Programs:

Application procedure:

  • Candidates are to visit GIKI website (http://admissions.giki.edu.pk) and apply online
  • Login, fill in and submit online application form.
  • Upload recent color photograph. (Blue Background)
  • Optionally apply online for scholarship or loan.
  • Candidates can apply online for Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) , Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA scholarships and Financial Assistance (Interest Free Loan). Remaining scholarships can be applied for after joining the Institute.
  • Continuation of scholarships is dependent on satisfactory academic performance of the concerned student and the policies of the donor agencies.
  • Print Bank Challan. (Processing Fee: Rs. 5500 for single test and Rs. 6500 for both tests, add Rs. 500 if applying for Financial Assistance)
  • Make payment in Bank and Fill in paid bank challan details in your profile.
  • Reach test center with Admit Card , orignal Matric/O-Level Certificate and Paid challan GIK Copy on Jul 18 or 19, 2020.
  • Check entry test result online.
  • Send check listed documents to admission office in case of admission is offered.

Engineering & Computer Science Programs (Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering,

Candidates for admission must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. HSSC (Pre-Engineering i.e. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) with 60% or above marks each in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.
  2. HSSC (Pre-Medical) with Additional Mathematics and 60% or above marks in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.
  3. A-Levels in three subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with D or above grade each in Mathematics & Physics and O-level in eight subjects (English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Computer Science, Urdu, Islamic Studies & Pakistan Studies) for local applicants and in five subjects (English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Computer Science) for those applying from abroad with 60% or above overall marks as per IBCC equivalence formula.
  4. American or Canadian High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate Diploma with Mathematics (with Calculus), Physics and Chemistry with 60% or above marks, as per IBCC equivalence formula, in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.
  5. B.Sc. (Mathematics & Physics) with 60% or above marks in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.
  6. Three years Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in relevant technology from a Pakistani Board of Technical Education with at least 60% marks in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.
BS Management Sciences
(Humanities & Social Sciences, Management Sciences)
Candidates for Admission must one of the following criteria:

  1. HSSC (Pre-Engineering), HSSC (General Science), HSSC (ICS), HSSC (Pre-Medical), HSSC (Humanities) with at least 60% marks.
  2. A-Level in three subjects with two D’s or above grades and O-Level in eight subjects for local applicants and in five subjects for those applying from abroad with overall 60% or above equivalence as per IBCC formula.
  3. American or Canadian High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate Diploma with overall 60% or above marks, as per IBCC equivalence formula.

Note: Applicants with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry background can apply for all programs including Computer Science or Computer Engineering II. Applicants with Computer Science/Computer Studies background instead of Chemistry at their HSSC or A-Level can only apply for Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

Financial Aid/Loan:

Candidates can apply online for Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) , Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA scholarships and Financial Assistance (Interest Free Loan). Remaining scholarships can be applied for after joining the Institute.

Continuation of scholarships is dependent on satisfactory academic performance of the concerned student and the policies of the donor agencies.

The Institute provides financial assistance in form of interest-free loans subject to nominal administrative charges. It is available to a limited number of students on need-cum-merit basis as determined by the Institute. The assistance may be for a period of one to four years of studies. Applicants seeking such assistance may apply on the prescribed form, through an additional payment of Rs. 500/.

Those who apply for financial assistance will be informed at the time of admission whether or not their request has been acceded to. An applicant who has secured admission on basis of merit but whose request for financial assistance is not approved would be admitted on payment of full tuition fee.

FATA Scholarship:

Total 10 seats, Scholarship covers Tuition fee and Mess charges.

Detail Criteria:

  1. The recipients of the scholarship must be FATA domicile holders. Attested copy of domicile of the FATA students will be collected at the time of admission.
  2. The annual gross income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 1,000,000/- (Rupees ten hundred thousand only per annum)
  3. The annual electricity bill of principal residence of the applicant should not exceed Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only).
  4. One seat will be reserved for each agency i.e. Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, NWA, SWA.
  5. Two seats for all six FRs i.e., One seat for FR Peshawar and FR Kohat, One seat for FR Bannu, Lakki, Tank and D.I.Khan.
  6.  One seat for female students from entire FATA/FR on merit.
  7. First preference will be given to those educated from the institutes located inside FATA.
  8. If no candidate qualifies from any agency/FRs/Female, their seat will be given to the candidates placed on merit

PEEF Scholarship:

Total seats 10, Scholarship amount Rs.300, 000/-

Detail Criteria:

  1. Students must have domicile of the Punjab Province.
  2. Students must have secured at least 60% marks (first division) in their Intermediate Annual Examination and must have enrolled in the graduate level degree program in the same year (2020) as they have passed such Intermediate Annual Examination.
  3. Students must have passed the above mentioned examination through any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Punjab or the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education: (a) from a government institution (students of Federal Government Institutions situated within geographical boundaries of Punjab are eligible), or (b) appearing as a private candidate, or (c) from a private affiliated institution.
  4. The annual household family income of each of the Students must not be more than Rs. 360,000/- (Rupees Three Hundred Sixty Thousand Only).
  5. The Students must also qualify under the criteria for award of financial aid prescribed by the Institution.

Chief Minister’s KP Scholarship:

Total seats 20, Tuition fee will be covered only.

Detail Criteria:

  1. Must be domiciled in a district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
  2. The annual take-home salary in case of salaried person or electricity bill in case of non-salaried person should not exceed Rs. 600,000/- (Rupees six hundred thousand only per annum) and Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only per annum), respectively.

Graduate & Post-Graduate (Masters & PhD) Programs:

Admission Procedure:

Applications are invited for admission to the graduate programs leading to MS and PhD degrees. The following materials must be submitted for admission:

  • Candidates are to visit GIKI website (http://admissions.giki.edu.pk) and apply online
  • Login, fill in and submit online application form.
  • Upload recent color photograph. (Blue Background)
  • Original receipt of application processing fee Rs. 5,000/- (nonrefundable) drawn on any online branch of Habib Bank Ltd. A/C No. 19790000085901.
  • Attested copies of CNIC and Domicile.
  • Attested copies of: i. SSC Certificate and DMC, ii. HSSC Certificate and DMC, iii. BSc/BS Degree and Transcript, iv. MSc/MS/MPhil Degree and Transcript
  • Attested copy of the results card: NTS GAT-General (for MS), NTS GAT/GRE-Subject (for PhD).
  • One-page summary outlining the applicant’s previous research and/or his/her practical experience. He/she should also indicate his/her academic and research interest at GIK Institute and work interest after getting his/her degree.
  • Three letter of recommendation signed by the referees (class teachers of the last Institution attended) to vouch for the applicant’s academic record and performance.

Financial Aid & Scholarships:

Various scholarships and graduate assistantships are available in all disciplines on merit, based on performance in the admission test and interviews conducted by the Institute. These scholarships/assistantships include full tuition fee waiver, free hostel accommodation and monthly stipend. The students selected under these schemes have to pay only the admission fee (non refundable) and refundable security deposit at the time of admission. The eligibility criteria for admission under different schemes is defined as following:

MS Degree Program (2 Years)

Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA-1)

  • Full Tuition Fee waiver
  • Monthly stipend Rs. 15,000/-
  • Free bachelor accommodation

Eligibility Criteria:

  • SSC & HSSC (or Equivalent) : Minimum 60% marks
  • BS (Engg) : Minimum CGPA 2.70 or 70% marks

Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA-2)

  • 2 year service as Lab Engineer/TA at GIK Institute with annual performance as very good or better.

Partial Scholarship Scheme (PSS)

  • Partial Tuition Fee waiver (Annual Tuition Fee under PSS is Rs. 150,000/-)
  • Free bachelor accommodation

Eligibility Criteria:

  • SSC & HSSC (or Equivalent) : Minimum 60% marks
  • BS (Engg) : Minimum CGPA 2.00 or 60% marks

Note: The graduate assistants shall be required to assist the faculty in teaching and research activities and to sign a service bond with the Institute at the time of admission.

PhD Program (3 years)
