Pakistan Braces For First Ever Virtual Expo

The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI) is hosting its annual International Rawal Expo starting from the 7th of August — but this time it’s being held virtually.

The renamed “Virtual International Rawal Expo 2020”, or VIRE2020, is a flagship trade show of RCCI, which is the leading business chamber in Pakistan, established in 1952. The organization is a network of over 8000 businesses and takes a proactive approach for increasing trade and business activities not only for the benefit of the region but the Pakistani economy as well.

VIRE 2020 offers businesses a unique opportunity to find new markets, make international connections, find investors, sell products, and several other benefits; while the audience is given a spectacular look at products and services, along with info sessions and bilateral trade webinars.

The Expo is held each year to great success; last year, it was visited by around 500,000 people and approximately 200 companies exhibited their products, including 40 companies from China, 8 from Indonesia, 3 from Afghanistan, and 2 from Sri Lanka. The event garnered national and international media attention, and RCCI hopes to recreate similar success this year by taking things virtual, which became a necessity due to the ongoing pandemic.

Audiences will be able to interact with businesses at the Expo through chat and video, and experience all activities such as product demos and showcases in real time. Like last year, the Expo will feature several recreational events and activities, and these include an auto show, pet show, cooking show, yoga & health sessions, and B2B webinars with Japan, China, etc.

Federal Minister Asad Umar extended his congratulations to RCCI for its innovative approach of taking the Expo online, and said that the initiative is in line with PM Imran Khan’s vision of a “Digital Pakistan”. The same views were also expressed by Federal Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar and Special Adviser to PM on Commerce, Textile, and Investment Adul Razak Dawood in separate messages.

The expo will be inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Arif Alvi, the President of Pakistan, on 6th August 2020 at 3:00 PM. VIRE2020 will start on Friday, 7th August, and end on Sunday, 16th August.
