Cambridge Cuts Retake Fee For October-November Exam Session

Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) has announced a 50% discount on the retake registration fee for the October-November 2020 exam session.

Back in May, CAIE had indicated to accord a discount in the retake registration fee for the October-November exams to students who wish to improve their grades obtained in the May-June exam session.

In March, CAIE had announced the cancellation of the May-June 2020 exam session in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Following the cancellation of exams, CAIE had devised a 4-step process that combined evidence provided by schools with the evidence at its disposal to assign predictive grades and ranks to all students without exams.

Last week, CAIE had published the results of the May and June 2020 exams based on the 4-step evidence-based method.

However, the May and June exam results drew anger from the students as they claimed their predicted grades were in complete contradiction with their expected grades based on their performance during classwork, coursework, assignments, and mock exams.

For instance, students expecting As and Bs were accorded Cs and Ds while those who deserved Bs and Cs were rewarded with As.

Students rejected the May and June exams result and termed the 4-step evidence-based process employed by the CAIE as unfair.

Taking to social networking platforms, students voiced their disagreement over the May-June exams, prompting CAIE to take notice of the issue.

Earlier this week, CAIE announced that the grades for May June 2020 exams would not be less than the predicted grades calculated by schools. In case a grade is higher than the predicted grade, the higher grade will stand.
