NCOC Orders to Increase Testing At Tourist Spots Fearing Second COVID-19 Wave

National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has ordered healthcare authorities to increase COVID-19 testing capacity at tourist spots where new cases of the viral infection have been reported recently.

It was decided in a meeting of NCOC presided over by Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Asad Umar, amid fears of the second wave of Coronavirus due to non-compliance with COVID-19 SOPs at tourist destinations.

The meeting was apprised with the developing Coronavirus situation in tourist spots and steps taken to contain the viral outbreak.

Asad Umar called for adherence to COVID-19 SOPs all over the country including the tourist spots to avert the second wave of Coronavirus, adding that testing capacity ought to be increased in areas where new cases are emerging.

Earlier this week, Mansehra’s administration had sealed 48 hotels in tourist spots of Naran, Kaghan, and Shogran after 47 staff members turned out to be COVID-19 positive.

Violations of COVID-19 SOPs have been widely reported in major tourist destinations as experts fear that it could trigger another wave of Coronavirus in Pakistan.
