Kia Picanto Gets Its First Price Hike

Kia Lucky Motors have announced a price revision for the Picanto Hatchback. However, this price bump has only been announced for the automatic variant of the hatchback. Reportedly, the price of the automatic variant has gone up by Rs. 50,000, bringing the car’s price tag up to Rs. 2,049,000, whereas the price of the manual variant remains the same at Rs. 1,899,000.

A notification released by the automaker states that the prices have taken effect from the 1st of September, 2020. This would mark the 2nd price hike announced by Kia this year, but not for this particular car, as back in May, the company announced an increase in the prices of the Sportage SUV.

Reportedly, the introductory price for the vehicle was Rs. 4,599,000 for the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) variant and Rs. Rs. 4,999,000 for the All-Wheel Drive AWD variant, which was then bumped up to Rs. 4,899,000 and Rs. 5,399,000 respectively.

For the Picanto, however, this is the first price hike ever since the company relaunched in Pakistan. The car is a subcompact hatchback that goes up against the Suzuki Cultus. The Cultus is priced lower than the Kia Picanto, but at the same time, the Picanto comes with more features than the Suzuki Cultus.

In terms of safety alone, Picanto is offered with driver and passenger airbags and ABS brakes as standard. Plus, although the car is a CKD unit, meaning that it’s assembled in Pakistan just like the Cultus, the Picanto is a much more stylish, modern-looking and spacious car as compared to its competitor.

However, it is a generation old as compared to the international market. Still, it is a worthy contender in its market segment.
