MG Gloster Luxury SUV Set to Make Its Debut in Pakistan Soon [Video]

On September 12th, Javed Afridi posted a video teaser of a supposed brand new arrival in the SUV market of Pakistan. The said video teaser is of the MG Gloster, a full-size luxury SUV based on the creation of a Chinese automaker Maxus, that is sold across various continents under the name D90.

MG, otherwise named as Morris Garages, is a contingent of the Chinese Automaker known as SIAC, who also owns Maxus.

The said vehicle is a proper ‘body-on-frame’ SUV that comes equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder petrol engine that makes 211 horsepower and 350 Newton/meters of torque and can be mated to a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. In Australia and New Zealand, the vehicle is also offered with turbocharged and twin-turbocharged 4 cylinder diesel engines as well as an all-electric motor.

In terms of exterior styling, the vehicle looks like a fairly standard modern-day SUV with a boxy yet modern body style, a few cuts and creases about the place, sleek headlight and taillight design, sharp-looking rims, and a high center of gravity. The Gloster has a wide assortment of body-color schemes as well as numerous choices of rims to choose from.

The vehicle can be had with an 8 seat or a 7 seat option. Since the vehicle is a full-size 7-8 seater luxury SUV, it is likely to compete against the likes of Toyota Fortuner in our market, which implies that it is likely to be priced between Rs. 7.5 million and 9.5 million. The details are yet to arrive on whether the vehicle would be a CKD unit or a CBU.

The said segment has a very small number of customers, yes. But having more options in the mix is always a better thing for both the customers and the competition.
