FIA Arrests 16 Suspects for Data Theft And Scamming

Cyber Crime Wing (CCW) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended 16 suspects involved in data theft and scamming.

According to details, the suspects had scammed and deprived numerous people of millions of rupees by offering online banking, ATM cards, and Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) schemes.

The suspects targeted illiterate elderly men and women and stole details of their CNICs and bank accounts which they had provided to different mobile companies for online money transfer and BISP payment.

The CCW also recovered thousands of SIM cards from the accused which were used to make phone calls to scam people. It must be noted that most of the arrested suspects had previously worked for different mobile phone companies.

FIA has lodged a case against the scammers under relevant laws and initiated legal proceedings against them.

CCW’s Additional Director has revealed that the FIA has formed special teams after the initial investigation to nab this huge network which involves a large number of people.
