KP Bans Morning Assemblies and Breaks in Schools

To reduce the risk and exposure to the coronavirus for children, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has reduced the school hours. To save time, the provincial government has scrapped morning assembly and lunch break in all the educational institutes.

As per the new time table, educational activities in middle and higher secondary schools will continue from 8:10 am to 1:30 pm, while primary classes will run from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Only five periods will be conducted every day.

Moreover, the provincial government has placed a ban on students receiving VIP guests at schools. A letter in this regard has been sent out to the heads of all public and private schools.

Students are coming to schools for getting the education and top priority must be given to educating them. Students should not be used for receiving guests and giving protocol to them in the future.

A Spike in Cases

It is noteworthy that random coronavirus testing is going on in all educational institutes across the country. The KP government had announced to conduct random samples from schools on September 15.

Since then, 22,222 samples have been collected from teachers, students, and staff, out of which, 17,090 results came out as negative. So far, 225 students and teachers have tested positive with a positivity ratio of 1.25%, while 4,096 results are still awaited.
