Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the federal cabinet to introduce legislation to rationalize the expenditure of Prime Minister and President.
It was decided during a recent meeting of the federal cabinet and Special Assistant to PM (SAPM) on Parliamentary Affairs, Babar Awan, has been tasked to draft the bill.

During the meeting, the premier said that the income of the people of Pakistan should be reasonably spent on the expenses of Prime Ministers and Presidents.
The cabinet apprised PM Imran that a former Prime Minister had spent Rs. 800 million from the national exchequer on the facade of their private residence.

In response, the premier said that the government should not impose the expenditure of top parliamentary leadership on the people of Pakistan, adding that the expenses of the leadership of a poor country should be in line with its income.
Besides, PM Imran has ordered Federal Education Minister, Shafqat Mahmood, to compile a detailed report on whatever expenses the national exchequer had incurred in the past on account of the expenditure of former Prime Ministers and Presidents.
