Federal Minister for Planning, Asad Umar, has revealed that the daily Coronavirus mortality rate in Pakistan stood at 12 during last week, a 140% increase in comparison with previous weeks.
Taking to Twitter, the Minister lamented that this is a direct outcome of flouting all COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines.

He also warned that the path on which Pakistan is currently treading would result in the loss of both lives and livelihoods.

The warning from Asad Umar, who also oversees Pakistan’s Coronavirus response at the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), comes a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed fear that Faisalabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Gujranwala could witness a second and more intense wave of Coronavirus outbreak with the onset of winters.

Last week, the Minister had said that the government is considering to re-impose lockdown to curb the resurgence of Coronavirus in the country, urging the masses to adhere to COVID-19 SOPs and take precautionary measures such as face masks and social distancing to avoid falling prey to the deadly virus.
In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has reported 433 new Coronavirus cases and 5 deaths. Overall, Pakistan has witnessed 323,452 cases and 6,659 deaths due to Coronavirus.
