Younis & Mushtaq Unlikely to Be Part of Coaching Staff for Zimbabwe Series

Former cricketers Younis Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed are unlikely to be a part of the coaching setup for Pakistan’s limited over series against Zimbabwe. Younis Khan was appointed as a batting consultant and Mushtaq Ahmed as a spin bowling coach for Pakistan’s recent tour of England.

Zimbabwe Head Coach Withdraws from Pakistan Tour

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not sign a contract with them for this series. Although, according to sources PCB is in negotiations with Younis Khan for the role of batting coach from the New Zealand series onwards.

Several cricketers and officials were impressed with Younis’s impact on the dressing room as the batting consultant and there have been rumors that he will be appointed permanently. But, Younis would not be a part of the coaching set up in the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, mainly due to the absence of Test matches in the series.

PCB officials believe that Younis’s expertise is more useful to the test side rather than the limited-overs team. As for Mushtaq Ahmed, it is unlikely PCB will extend his contract any further.
