Pakistan’s First-Ever Wrestling League Announced

Pakistan has announced its first-ever freestyle wrestling league to be held in 2021. The wrestling league will be held in collaboration with Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF), and the inaugural season will be played next year, subject to the Covid-19 situation in the country.

The league is owned by Strawberry Sports Management, who are the owners of the Super Kabaddi League as well. The format of the wrestling league will be similar to the Super Kabaddi League, where teams from different cities around the country will take part.

The top wrestlers will compete against each other in different weight categories and according to the organizers, the league will expand each year.

Pakistan has a history of producing top-class wrestlers and is regarded as one of the best wrestling countries in the world.

The founder of Strawberry Sports Management, Haider Ali Daud talked about the plans of the wrestling league “This is an immensely proud moment for the sports of Pakistan. Together with PWF, we are reviving an age-old and most popular sport of the country. Wrestling has its roots in the culture of Pakistan. Through the league quality, players and game will be highlighted.”

PWF has also backed the idea of the league as they believe it will provide the wrestling community in Pakistan with much needed exposure and financial support.
