Pakistan Railways has decided to outsource the commercial management of 8 passenger trains in an attempt to improve the passengers’ overall experience.
According to details, Pakistan Railways will privatize the management of Karachi-Rawalpindi Sir Syed Express, Karachi-Havelian Hazara Express, Karachi-Lahore Shalimar Express, Lahore-Mari Indus Mianwali Express, Lahore-Sialkot Narowal Passenger, Karachi-Mirpur Khas Mehran Express, Lahore-Multan Moenjo Daro Express, and Lahore-Multan Badar Express.

In this regard, Pakistan Railways, on 20 October, had organized a pre-bid conference in Lahore and will be accepting technical proposals till 13 November.
A spokesperson for the Pakistan Railways has said that the private sector will be responsible for managing the staff of these trains while Pakistan Railways will provide locomotives, bogies, technical assistance, and fuel under the outsourcing plan.

Besides, Federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed, on Saturday, revealed that Pakistan Railways has decided to revive the rail car service on the Lahore Rawalpindi route from 30 November.
He also urged private companies to operate freight trains using Pakistan Railways’ infrastructure, adding that Pakistan Railways had handed over 4 freight trains to different private companies under the public-private partnership mode.
