Higher Education Commission (HEC) has categorically rejected news circulating on different social networking platforms which suggested that the commission has announced to shut down universities all over Pakistan due to the resurgence of COVID-19.
According to the official statement issued by the commission, HEC has not issued any directions for closure of universities across the country.

Each university will decide to operate or close according to its specific situation, the statement added.
HEC has notified that District Administrations are authorized to shut down any university in case there is an outbreak of COVID-19 on its campus.
Yesterday, Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad was shut down for a day after the confirmation of 5 Coronavirus cases at its campus.

QAU’s administration has now decided to shift all academic activities to online till 6 November.
In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has reported 773 new cases and 6 deaths due to Coronavirus. Overall, the country has so far reported 329,375 cases and 6,745 deaths due to Coronavirus.
