NAB Approves Malik Riaz’s Son in Law’s Plea Bargain Worth Rs. 9.5 Billion

An accountability court of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) approved the plea bargain request of Zain Malik, son-in-law of Malik Riaz, of worth Rs. 9.5 billion in six references of fake account cases, DG NAB Rawalpindi, Irfan Naeem Mangi, has confirmed.

While disclosing the details of the plea bargain deal, DG NAB Rawalpindi revealed that Rs. 4.95 billion and Rs. 310 million were recovered in two cases against Zain Malik and Mushtaq Ahmed, Rs. 2.1 billion were recovered in a case titled ‘State versus Hussain Lawai and others,’ and Rs. 2 billion were recovered in a case against former DG Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA).

Irfan Naeem Mangi said that the plea bargain is one of the biggest in the history of NAB.

While reviewing the performance of NAB Rawalpindi, Chairman NAB lauded the work of regional headquarters under the leadership of Irfan Mangi.

NAB Deputy Chairman, Hussain Asghar, Prosecutor General for Accountability (PGA) Syed Asghar Haider, DG Operations, Zahir Shah, along with other senior officials, attended the review meeting.

Besides, NAB Rawalpindi had recovered Rs. 1.7 billion in a case against Zardari and Opal-225 groups, and Rs. 1.57 billion in a case against Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majeed.

NAB Rawalpindi had also recovered Rs. 1.95 billion under plea bargains and imposed fines of around Rs. 14 billion in three separate Modaraba scam cases.
