Redmi K40 to Feature A 120Hz OLED Display: Leak

Redmi K series has been highly successful due to its flagship-grade specifications offered on top of mid-range price tags. The latest edition in the series, the Redmi K30, is expected to receive a successor next year, but some of its specifications appeared to have been leaked already.

The leak comes from none other than the renowned leaker Digital Chat Station, who claims that the Redmi K40 will have an OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and punch-hole cutout for the front camera. As with all previous K series phones, this one is also expected to feature minimal bezels.

That is the extent of what the leak reveals, but previous reports have said that the Redmi K40 may be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC with 5G compatibility. It is expected to have a Sony IMX686 64MP primary camera, and 33W fast charging. Some reports also claim that it could feature the Snapdragon 775G chipset.

The Redmi K40 Pro, on the other hand, could be one of the first phones to feature the Snapdragon 875 SoC, which will be Qualcomm’s first-ever 5nm chip similar to Huawei’s Kirin 9000 and Apple’s A14 Bionic. Details on other specifications are still scarce.

The company’s General Manager Lu Weibing recently revealed that the Redmi K30 series will be discontinued soon, which suggests that the launch of the K40 series is not far. We are yet to hear about an expected launch date though, stay tuned for updates.
