Changan Reveals Launch Date For Alsvin

The Changan Alsvin Sedan is finally set to make its official debut in Pakistan on December 11, 2020, the company’s social media handles have revealed. For months, the vehicle has been a hot topic of discussion among auto enthusiasts after being spotted on the roads of Pakistan on multiple occasions.

The automaker made its debut in Pakistan in partnership with Master Motors. Currently, the company’s vehicle lineup includes light commercial vehicles and the Karavan passenger van. After having seen relative success in the aforementioned segments, the company, under the greenfield status acquired as a part of the Automotive Development Policy (ADP) 2016-21, is now set to try its hand in the passenger car segment.

Given the size and dimensions of the vehicle, the Alsvin is set to go up against the other sub-compact sedans such as the Toyota Yaris and the Honda City.

In Pakistan, the car is, reportedly, likely to be offered with two main powertrain options. One is with a 1.4 liter 4-cylinder engine with Dual-Variable Valve Timing Technology (DVVT ) that delivers 100 horsepower and 135 Newton-meters of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and the second will be with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder engine with DVVT technology that makes 107 horsepower, 145 newton-meters of torque is mated to a 5-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

Other performance features include Antilock Breaking Systems (ABS) with Electronic Break-Force Distribution (EBD) technology, cruise control, hill-start assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear-view camera, tire pressure monitoring system among others. In the interior, the car offers a modern infotainment system with the latest InCall intelligent interconnect system.

Details are still a bit foggy in terms of whether the car will be offered as a CBU or a locally assembled unit, which would have an effect on its price as well. However, as per reports, Master Motors has set up an assembly plant that has a production capacity of over 30,000 per year. The expert opinion also suggests that the price of the vehicle is to be kept on the less expensive side, to give competition to the big names of the industry.
