FBR Extends Scope of DG of Designated Non-Financial Business and Professions Quetta and G-B

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the scope of the Directorate-General of Designated Non-Financial Business and Professions (DNFBPs) to Quetta and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) to register and regulate the business activities of the real estate sector, jewellers, and accountants to prevent attempts to launder money and finance terrorists within these sectors.

The FBR has issued a notification regarding this, according to which four customs officials of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Quetta and MCC Gilgit-Baltistan have been assigned the additional responsibilities of Deputy Directors and Additional Directors of the Directorate General of Designated Non-Financial Business and Professions (DNFBPs) to work in Quetta and GB.

The FBR has decided to completely document the businesses of real estate agents and jewellers who will, in turn, be required to maintain a record of the actual beneficial owners of immovable properties and jewellery respectively and report all the suspicious transactions of their buyers and sellers to the FBR.

Consequently, upon the operationalization of the Directorate-General of Designated Non-Financial Business and Professions (DNFBPs) at Islamabad, Dr. Bashirullah Khan (IRS/BS-21) Director-General, Directorate-General of Intelligence and Investigation (IR), Islamabad was given the additional charge of the post of the Director-General, Directorate-General of Designated Non-Financial Business and Professions (DNFBPs).

Zafar Iqbal Khan (IRS/BS-20) Director, Directorate-General of Intelligence and Investigation (IR), Islamabad, was given the additional charge of the Director (Regulations), DNFBPs Islamabad.
