The Supreme Court of Pakistan has imposed a ban on the parking of cars on service roads in Islamabad. As per a media report, a bench consisting of five judges gave this verdict following the hearing of a case on environmental pollution case at the Supreme Court today.
Under the supervision of Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, the bench instructed the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad to enforce a ban on the parking of cars on the service roads in the capital city.

The court also directed the Chief Commissioner to shut down the malls and shopping centers that lack proper car parking facilities, to ensure the construction of at least one public toilet within each square kilometer of the city, and to have all the U-turns on the expressway closed off to facilitate the flow of traffic.
The Supreme Court has asked the Chief Commissioner to submit a report regarding the maintenance and development projects that are underway within the capital city.

The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) stated that plots in the Margalla Hills being allotted illegally. As the Margalla Hills are the property of the state, an inquiry will be made into the matter to find out when and how they were allotted to the public.
The judges also expressed their displeasure regarding the developmental efforts in the city and demanded the Chief Commissioner to take notice of them.
