Govt to Amend CDA Ordinance to Settle Land Claims

The federal government has decided to issue the ‘Capital Development Authority (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020’ to settle land claims.

The Ministry of Interior forwarded a vetted draft to the Federal Cabinet for discussion today and will give a briefing about the amendments recommended for the CDA Ordinance, 1960.

Once approved, the ordinance will be promulgated by the President of Pakistan.

The issue of compensation for landowners is on the agenda of the meeting, for which a new clause will be added to resolve matters of the sharing of land.

Additionally, a new section will be added to the ordinance to override other laws.

Under the CDA Ordinance, 1960, the CDA exists as an autonomous statutory organization. Its board runs its general affairs and administration, and takes decisions about the planning and development of the federal capital.
