Shoaib Akhtar Slams ICC Over ‘IPL’ Teams of the Decade

Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar lashed out at International Cricket Council (ICC) for their announcement of Teams of the Decade for all three formats. Akhtar said that these teams are not international teams rather Indian Premier League (IPL) Teams of the Decade.

ICC has been criticized by the cricketing fraternity for selecting undeserving players in the teams, while top performing players throughout the decade failed to make the cut.

Akhtar questioned the credibility of the teams and said that top cricketers from around the world have been ignored and players that have performed in only the IPL have been selected. He said that these teams should have been selected on the basis of performances in international cricket.

Akhtar added that after brilliant performances by Pakistani players throughout the decade they were ignored.

“I think ICC has forgotten that Pakistan is also ICC’s member and plays cricket internationally. They missed out on an ace Pakistani batsman like Babar Azam who is already the top T20 batsman. They did not even include a single Pakistani player,” Akhtar said.
