Govt to Start Countrywide Crackdown Against Illegal Petrol Pumps

As per a media report, there are 4,149 illegal petrol filling stations across the country. The federal government has instructed the authorities to carry out an operation against illegal petrol stations across the country with the help of local police and magistrates. An FIR will also be registered against the owners of such petrol stations.

In this regard, a report has been submitted to the Prime Minister by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). According to the report, 4,149 illegal petrol stations in total have been unearthed across the country. There are 2,309 illegal petrol pumps in Sindh, 1,364 in Punjab, 344 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 132 in Balochistan.

The report suggests that the government is gearing up for a countrywide crackdown operation against the smuggling of petroleum products and illegal petrol pumps. The operation will reportedly be launched in the border districts of Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.

Reportedly, all illegal petrol pumps in the country will be sealed, and notices will be issued to the owners of the petrol pumps under the Customs Act, 1969. The properties will be confiscated by the federal government.

It bears mentioning here, that Prime Minister Imran Khan has already hinted at revoking the licenses of oil companies involved in the petroleum crisis and said that strict action would be taken against the individuals, institutions, and companies involved in the crisis.
