Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Air Marshal (retd) Arshad Malik, has formed a four-member committee to probe the irregularities in the recruitment of daily wages employees in PIA.
The four-member team, headed by Wing Commander, Kamran Anjum, will investigate officials of the Skyrooms Private Limited, a third-party company responsible for recruiting daily wages employees for the national airline.

The committee has been tasked to identify PIA officers, who in connivance with the company, allowed illegal appointments.
The four-member team will submit a report at the earliest and will also recommend transparent procedures for the recruitment of daily wages workers in the future. It will have the exclusive power to obtain records from the management and to summon anyone for questioning.

Last month, the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle (CCC) had registered an FIR against former PIA chief executive, Bernd Hildenbrand, over the illegal appointment of an Austrian National as a Consultant to CEO.
Hildenbrand, a German national, had appointed Bechhofner, his close aide, as a consultant in October 2016 for three months. This appointment caused a loss of $50,203 (approximately 5.25 million rupees) to the national exchequer through PIA.
