Xiaomi Mi 11 Teardown Reveals Water-Tight Design Despite No IP-Rating

Xiaomi Mi 11 is finally out as the world’s first Snapdragon 888 phone and it has already been taken apart on YouTube. The video comes courtesy of tech YouTuber Aiao Technology who performed a teardown on the Xiaomi Mi 11, giving us a good look at what’s inside.

The dissection started off with prying and slicing open the plastic eco-leather back away from the adhesive underneath. This showed the size of the main camera setup that came in full view after taking off a few screws holding a cover. The setup includes a main Samsung ISOCELL HMX 108MP sensor alongside two smaller lenses for ultrawide and macro cameras.

Even though the phone does not have an official IP rating, it is sealed tightly shut in several places to keep it safe from exposure to liquids. There is also plenty of copper foil and a number of heat sinks here and there to improve the phone’s thermals. We also get to see the flash memory and our first look at the Snapdragon 888 SoC here.

Finally, the 4,600 mAh battery should be easily replaceable as it comes with easy to access pull tabs on the side that make the process risk free. This battery comes from Sunwoda Electronics Co Ltd and has support for 55W fast charging.

We recommend watching the video for an in-depth look.
