Karachi Witnesses Record-Breaking Coldest Day of the Decade

The people of Karachi witnessed the coldest day of the decade on Friday morning. According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the lowest temperature on Friday morning was recorded at 5.6 degrees Celsius.

The last time Karachi’s temperature fell below 7 degrees was in December 2014 when the mercury dropped to 6.5°C.

The Met Office said that the cold spell is likely to continue for the next 24 hours with a humidity level of 46% and winds blowing from the north at 10km per hour.

Prior to this, the Met Office had predicted that the cold wave in Karachi might last till Sunday, which was earlier expected to end on Thursday.

The temperature is likely to hover around between 7°C and 9°C in the coming days.

Earlier on Tuesday, December 29, Karachi experienced the coldest night of the year when the temperature fell to 7 degrees Celsius, with light winds and 39 percent humidity.
