Karachi Transformation Plan to be Executed Through PSDP and PPP Mode of Financing

Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meeting was held on Monday under the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad, Jehanzeb Khan.

CDWP considered three projects and agreed on Karachi Transformation Plan for three years through the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) and Public-private partnership (PPP) mode of financing.

Karachi Transformation Plan worth Rs. 739 billion was discussed to improve required civic amenities in Karachi in consultation with the government of Sindh. Under the Karachi Transformation Plan, work will be done on Water Supply, Sewerage Treatment and Disposal, Solid Waste Management, Storm-water Drains, Improvement/Rehabilitation of Internal Roads, and Mass Transit System.

CDWP also approved a Concept Clearance Paper presented by the Government of KP, namely “Foreign assistance from IFAD for project Rural Economic Transformation Project” worth $100 million for all districts of KP.

Senior officials from Planning Commission and Federal Ministries and divisions participated in the meeting along with representatives from provincial governments.
