Education Minister Responds to Negative Reactions on Schools Reopening

The Federal Minister for Education, Shafqat Mahmood, tweeted about his astonishment by students’ negative reactions to the reopening of educational institutes and has advised them to take their studies seriously.

On Monday, the government announced to open schools in a phased manner from 18 January onwards, and universities in February. However, many students were unhappy with the development and expressed their disappointment on social media.

Shocked by the response, the minister chided students for taking their future for granted and took to Twitter to say, “It surprises me when I see the negative reaction of some students to school/college/universities reopening. Education is a gateway to the future. Also, Education years are also the best time of one’s life”.

He added that everyone should welcome the opportunity to study and be among friends.

Reopening Schedule

  • Online learning from 11 January.
  • Grades 9 to 12 from 18 January.
  • Grades 1 to 8 from 25 January.
  • Universities from 1 February.
  • Board exams in May and June.
  • Next review meeting on 14 January.
