The Federal Ombudsman, Syed Tahir Shahbaz, has constituted a high-level task force to devise a plan to curb the increasing instances of cybercrimes against children.
It will primarily focus on preventing the dissemination of pornographic material along with reviewing cybercrime laws, enhancing coordination among the LEAs, establishing cybercrime cells in police stations, and constituting thematic sub-committees for the purpose.

Headed by the Federal Ombudsman Islamabad, Syeda Waqar-un-Nisa Hashmi, the task force will be responsible for recommending short, medium, and long term measures to put an end to such offenses.
It consists of psychologists, parliamentarians, PTA officials, and representatives of all LEAs.
International development partners like UNICEF and national NGOs already working on this issue will be taken on board as well.
Federal Ombudsman Islamabad noted that there is no Child Ombudsman or any other such institution exclusively for children in Pakistan.

Syeda Waqar-un-Nisa added that the police department and other LEAs are currently responsible for handling complaints regarding children.
However, due to limited capacity and legal loopholes, LEAs fail to properly investigate cases and prosecute offenders of such crimes, she lamented.
