South African Team to Travel to Pakistan Via UK Despite Flight Ban

Despite an all-out ban on flights from the United Kingdom, the South African cricket team has been granted special permission to come to Pakistan through Britain.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a notification in this regard, according to which, South Africa’s 27-people contingent, including the team management, will arrive in Pakistan on January 16 via an international airline.

They will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival in Pakistan and then will serve a 7-day mandatory quarantine period before beginning practice.

This will be South Africa’s first tour to Pakistan after 14 years. The Protease last visited Pakistan in 2007-08 and took the two-match Test series 1-0 and the five-match ODI series 3-2.

This time, they will be here for two Tests and three T20Is to be played in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.

The first Test between Pakistan and South Africa is scheduled to begin on January 26 in Karachi, while the second Test starts on February 4 in Rawalpindi.

Three T20I matches between the two sides are all scheduled to be held in Lahore.
