Students Angry Over Decision to Conduct On-Campus Exams

Several universities across Pakistan have announced that they will conduct on-campus examinations for the fall semester 2020-2021, but their students are not happy about it.

The University of Management and Technology’s (UMT) students protested the decision, stating that it is unfair of the university to conduct on-campus examinations considering they had taken online classes the entire semester.

A UMT student said, “Throughout the year, we had been taught online where our only source of help had been notes and PowerPoint presentations. Now they expect us to give exams on campus so that they can fail us easily”.

One of the concerns raised by the hostilities who had taken all their classes online is that they will now be compelled to travel back to their universities to sit exams amidst the pandemic.

A student from Karachi said, “My sister studies at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, and the management has called them in for exams on campus. We live in Karachi and the university is located on the outskirts of Islamabad. Imagine, she now has to go all the way there just for the exams”.
