The messaging app Signal appears to be up and running once again after facing technical difficulties on Friday that lasted more than 24 hours. The company tweeted on Saturday night that the app is back though some people are still getting error messages.
Signal did not explain the cause of the outage.
Signal is back! Like an underdog going through a training montage, we’ve learned a lot since yesterday — and we did it together. Thanks to the millions of new Signal users around the world for your patience. Your capacity for understanding inspired us while we expanded capacity. pic.twitter.com/cRNV8kVtdF

For people who are still getting error messages, the company says that it is only a side effect of the outage that began on the weekend. However, according to Signal, this should not affect security, though people might miss a few messages from their contacts. This should be fixed in the upcoming updates, added Signal.
The app offered two different fixes for users getting error messages. Android users can tap the option on the top right corner that says “reset secure session”, and iOS users can press the “reset session” located below “received message was out of sync.” This worked for some, while others had to wait until Sunday.
During the outage, Signal said that it is quickly working on bringing the app’s additional capacity online to handle peak traffic levels, though the company did not immediately respond to a request to comment from different publications.
