Bykea Joins Hands with PHA Rawalpindi for Beautification of the City

Bykea, Pakistan’s leading on-demand ride-hailing and parcel delivery service, has joined forces with the Parks and Horticulture Authority Rawalpindi (PHA) for the beautification of the city.

The MoU signing took place on Saturday with Mr. Asif Mehmood – Advisor to CM Punjab for Horticulture & Tourism and Chairman PHA Rawalpindi, and Captain (R) Muhammad Anwar ul Haq – Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, joining in as chief guests.

Under the agreement, Bykea will extend support to PHA for the renovation of Rawalpindi’s parks, bus stands, and metro stations, as well as restoration of old, historic buildings. Besides that, the walls of the government buildings will also be adorned with pictures of Pakistan’s national heroes to pay tribute to them besides educating the younger generation about their sacrifices.

In July last year, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) launched the ‘Revival of Rawalpindi’ drive and sought volunteers to support it in the city’s beautification. According to PHA the objective of the campaign was to involve volunteers to get ideas and help for the development of green areas, wall painting, and cleanliness in their respective areas.

For successful execution of the initiative, the Punjab government formed an 11-member task force led by the PHA chairman and consisting of the representatives of the local administration, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, traders, Rawalpindi Development Authority, National College of Arts, Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation, and archeology department.

“We are extremely thankful for the support we have received from Mr. Asif Mehmood and Captain (R) Muhammad Anwar ul Haq to play our part in the beautification of our amazing city – Rawalpindi,” said Muhammad Usman Chaudhry – VP North of Bykea. “To show our love and gratitude for this beautiful city, we’ve decided to team up with PHA so as to keep the city clean, green, and welcoming,” he added.

Bykea is a home-grown app that is used by millions of customers in three major cities of Pakistan. It is also amongst the top employers in the country with over 30,000 active driver partners. The company successfully closed Series B funding of $13m  in 2020 despite the global economic slowdown.

Through the partnership, the startup is hoping to win hearts as well as promote the cause of Clean and Green Pakistan. Additionally, there are plans for extensive partnerships with other public and private institutions which are bound to create awareness and increase Bykea’s market share.
