Bacha Khan University Introduces New Dress Code for Students & Teachers

The Bacha Khan University in the Charsadda district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has issued a new dress code for its students and faculty.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmed, presided over the ninth Academic Council meeting in which he issued directives mandating female students to wear black abayas with either white or black headscarves, and restricting their footwear to black smooth slippers.

The new dress code for the female students allows them to wear black and loose-fitting abayas with either white or black shalwar kameez and prohibits all types of jeans, T-shirts, trousers, short shirts, makeup, jewelry, fancy purses, thin clothing, and high heels.

The male students have been directed to wear plain shirts with either blue or black dress pants, clean winter shalwar kameez, dark blue vests or coats, sweaters, and plain jackets. Colorful mufflers are not allowed, and only black or brown shoes may be worn.

Similarly, the faculty has been directed to wear neat, clean, and presentable attires with black gowns, and to wear their university identification cards around their necks. The faculty dress code prohibits the wearing of jeans, slippers, earrings, and wrist bands.

The VC has also called for careful arrangements to be made for students to learn the Holy Quran with detailed translation within the university so that they can learn its basic guiding principles and become true preachers of Islam.
