Misbah Included Among Nominees for ICC’s Captain Cool Poll on Twitter

International Cricket Council (ICC) have recently been conducting various polls on Twitter, and the latest poll is related to the ‘coolest’ cricket captains. Former Pakistan captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, Australia’s Steve Waugh, India’s MS Dhoni, and current New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson, are the contenders for the poll.

The ICC poll states “These extraordinary leaders are characterized by their ability to maintain composure under pressure. Who is your favorite ‘Cool Customer’?”

All four of the nominees have had a terrific run for their national side and are regarded as some of the finest captains to ever grace the game. Misbah-ul-Haq has been highly appreciated for his brilliant captaincy and reviving the Test team after some years of mediocrity.

Misbah took the national team from 6th spot in Tests to the number one in the world for the first time. In his tenure, the team remained unbeaten for two years. Misbah’s captaincy proved to be fruitful for a team in desperate need of guidance and he steadied the ship for Pakistan.

MS Dhoni and Steve Waugh were astute captains as well. They were, perhaps, two of the greatest in limited-overs cricket. Waugh won the ICC Cricket World Cup as captain in 1999, while MS Dhoni led India to World Cup glory in 2011. He has also won the T20 World Cup as captain in 2007 as well as the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.

Kane Williamson is the only active captain in the nominations. Williamson has been a blessing for New Zealand cricket. They narrowly lost the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 to England, but came back and became the number one Test side in the world under his captaincy. They recently whitewashed Pakistan in the Test series and look like a formidable team to beat.
