Online System Still Down as Pakistan Railways Fears Data Loss

The online ticket reservation system and the electronic systems of finance and human resources departments of Pakistan Railways had crashed on Tuesday and are still down.

The glitch has disconnected 60 online reservation offices from main servers as the Pakistan Railways IT department fears the loss of data from 2016 to date.

Sources claim that IT officials have not yet determined whether the systems crashed as a result of a hacker attack or due to non-maintenance.

Meanwhile, the IT department is making efforts to restore the systems and recover the data pertaining to e-ticketing, finance, and human resources departments.

The IT department will start finding the reasons behind the systems’ failure after recovering data.

Note that the online ticket reservation system of Pakistan Railways had crashed twice in July last year as well.

Update:

National Telecom Corporation (NTC) of the IT Ministry has restored the online ticket reservation system and the electronic systems of finance and human resources departments of Pakistan Railways.
