After months of rumors of Apple’s alliance with the Hyundai Motor Group for the development of the Apple Car, the Korean automotive giant has finally confirmed that neither Hyundai nor Kia have any part in it.
A report from early January had stated that the Hyundai Motor Group was in talks with a tech-firm based in Cupertino for a potential partnership in the development of the Apple Car. Without divulging the names of its potential partners, the Hyundai Motor Group had then redacted its statement, claiming that it is currently in talks with ‘multiple firms’ with the interest of perfecting autonomous driving technology.
Bloomberg recently revealed that KIA – a subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Group – was to receive a huge investment from Apple and that they will form a partnership to develop the Apple Car.
Although the Hyundai Motor Group has emphasized that it is not in talks with Apple, both the companies maintain that they are in talks with multiple firms in the pursuit of the perfection of self-driving technology, without revealing any details about their associated companies again.
This news has made the fate of the Apple Car development unclear once more. However, the Smartphone company has claimed that it has an eager interest in making a significant impact in the global automotive industry.
