Publishers Facing Huge Losses Due to Sudden Implementation of Uniform Curriculum

Publishers in Punjab are distressed as they are facing huge losses due to the ongoing pandemic and the implementation of a Single National Curriculum (SNC) by the federal government.

The owners of the publishing houses in Punjab have expressed their concerns over this matter, stating that they had hardly recovered from the pandemic-induced losses and have been dealt another blow with the implementation of the SNC.

According to the owners, the SNC should have been implemented gradually with a proper procedure as the sudden implementation has affected the businesses of the publishers.

In December 2020, Punjab approved the SNC for primary schools and had directed the private publishers to publish books for the primary classes in accordance with it.

The Ministry of Federal Education had announced that the SNC books would be taught at the primary level from August 2021.
