Govt Introduces Major Changes in Pakistan’s Visa Policy

Making significant changes in the country’s visa policy, the Interior Ministry has exempted short-term visas from security clearance, Tribune has reported.

According to details, one-month medical and three-month work visas will be issued within 48 hours after the latest directives which come into effect immediately.

On the other hand, security clearance will still be required for the one-year medical visa that will be issued within 30 days.

Meanwhile, foreign students intending to study in Pakistan on a 2-year visa are required to furnish security clearance along with NOC.

Earlier this month, Pakistan’s embassies and high commissions across the world stopped issuing manual visas.

Non-resident Pakistanis and others intending to visit the country are required to apply for the visas at Pakistan’s official visa portal.

Since assuming power in 2018, the incumbent federal government has taken many steps to implement the E-visa regime. Prime Minister Imran Khan had introduced the online visa service for the first time in March 2019 and so far the service has been extended to 192 countries.
