VAIO Launches 4K Laptop With Military Toughness and 34-Hour Battery Life

Earlier this month, the Sony-backed VAIO announced that it will be launching a new laptop with cutting-edge tech and new design. The company launched its VAIO Z laptop yesterday, which comes with a carbon fiber body, Intel Corei7 processor, and Windows 10.

Design and Display

As mentioned, the VAIO Z comes with carbon fiber construction that is a first for the company. Thanks to the new material, the laptop not only comes with added durability but is also lighter as compared to its predecessor.

The device weighs less than 1 kg and comes with the MIL-STD-810H requirement which means it can survive a fall from 4 feet.

In terms of display, the laptop is built around a 14-inch 4K HDR LCD panel with 1080p resolution, 99.8% DCI-P3 color gamut, and HDR10.

The laptop hinge allows the display to go back by 180 degrees. Moreover, the system comes with a dedicated shortcut (Fn+2) that can be used to rotate the display. There is a webcam at the top with a privacy lock option.

The notebook is powered by the latest 11th generation Intel Core i7 H35 Series processor paired with 8GB of RAM which can be configured up to 32GB of RAM. The onboard storage starts at 256GB PCIe Gen.4 SSD which is configurable up to 2TB SSD.

In terms of software, the laptop runs Windows 10 Home.

Other Features

Other features of the device include a uniquely designed microphone and stereo speakers optimized with Dolby Audio, USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), HDMI output, headphone jack, fingerprint integrated on the power button, and 53Wh cell that supports 65W PD fast charging. According to the company, the battery can offer up to 17 hours of usage for the HDR version. For 1080p, the laptop offers 34 hours of battery life.

Pricing and Availability

The laptop is currently available for sale and starts at $2574 for the 1080p version with Core i5-11300H, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD version. The signature edition, on the other hand, costs $3457. It comes with 1080p screen, Core i7-11375H, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD.
