International Team Arrives in Pakistan to Formulate PIA’s New Business Plan

A four-member team of international aviation consultants is coming to Pakistan today on the invitation of Dr. Ishrat Hussain, PM’s Adviser on Institutional Reforms and Austerity, to work on a five-year corporate business plan for PIA.

According to details, the foreign delegation will stay in the country for 12 days during which it will call upon senior government officials including CEO PIA, Arshad Malik, and Dr. Ishrat Hussain.

While confirming the team’s arrival, PIA spokesman, Abdullah Hafeez, said that international consultants will formulate a business plan for the national carrier to turn it into a sustainable and profitable entity.

The team will propose viable initiatives and strategies for the organizational and financial restructuring of PIA. It will provide a detailed forecast of financial position, performance, and cash flows under different scenarios.

It will also recommend steps for revising the capital structure and provide a feasible model for meeting future funding requirements. It will suggest measures for improving sales and marketing strategy for each region, route, and destination.

Earlier, CAA had granted special permission for the international experts from the UK, South Africa, and Portugal to travel to Pakistan at the request of PIA.

However, the team will still be required to undergo mandatory PCR testing and quarantine upon arrival.

Note that NCOC has temporarily restricted the entry of inbound travelers from countries categorized C in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.
