Promoting Tourism in Jhelum Will Boost Employment: PM Imran Khan

During his visit to Nandana Fort in Jhelum, Punjab, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan spoke to an audience of state officials and organizational representatives and lauded the government for its efforts in the promotion of tourism, which have also helped to generate employment for the youth.

The PM inaugurated the Al-Biruni heritage trail at the fort in recognition of the Islamic scholar Abu Rayhan Al-Biruni, known for determining the earth’s radius and the true direction of the Ka’abah during the eleventh century, 500 years before people from the West had discovered them.

While discussing his views on the new site, PM Khan emphasized the importance of preserving the historical heritage of Pakistan since “the preservation and protection of our historical sites and national heritage is also essential to keep the coming generations informed about history”.

He added that the development of the heritage trail in the area would, in turn, spearhead local development.

While interacting with the locals, Khan affirmed that the government would facilitate the youth through the establishment of hotels, restaurants, and other facilities for tourists. He assured them that the government will also preserve and protect the forests in the area by planting olive trees.

On a separate note, he commended the team of archaeologists for the discovery of a 40-feet tall statue of the Buddha in Haripur and called for more excavations to locate historical places in the country.
